Proposals Held for Second Reading

ENGR 455 Proposal to drop delete ENGR455 from the engineering program

Committee asks the proposer to communicate directly with the instructor of SEC230 (White) before this change in approved, as ENGR455 is crosslisted with SEC230.  The committee did not feel that this should be classified as a minor school course modification (Hollingsworth, Sawoski)

MUSIC Major School Program Modification

B.A. in Music

Committee asks the proposer(s) to communicate directly with the registrar regarding the following issues:

1. Please complete curricunet’s space for catalog copy. Curricunet’s is used for reporting and needs to be complete.

2. When and how do students declare an instrument. The proposal mentions a major instrument requirement but is silent about the process. Please work with the registrar to develop appropriate language.

3. Because the aural skills courses are co-requisite with theory but separate classes, it is unclear what happens if a student were to fail the 1 credit aural skills course. Can they retake it independent of the theory class? Can they move forward. Please work with the registrar to clarify the process.

Approve pending communication with the appropriate dean and Registrar regarding the clarifications listed.
